Verifying a person’s identity is of vital importance in business and in donating to unfamiliar organizations.  A person’s identity is the most valuable asset that he has in controlling his destiny. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) gives several tips on the most common fraud schemes (FBI, n.d.). Identity theft is one of the most common fraud schemes listed. There is a wealth of information available on each person and although identity theft cannot be prevented it can be avoided (FBI, n.d.). Each state Attorney General also oversees identity theft as a form of fraud. In addition, individuals or organization members who run their campaigns or organizations on the premise of academic credentials should be open to the verification of all interested person’s validity of their academic credentials. The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them (FTC, 2005: https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/avoid-fake-degree-burns-researching-academic-credentials ). To validate a person’s academic credentials is equally important, as preventing identity theft.

  1. Johnson has presented himself to be a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). The Student Clearinghouse, a third party verification company for degree verification (http://www.studentclearinghouse.org/about/what_we_do.php) submitted a degree verification response. On July 22, 2015, the Student Clearinghouse verified that Mr. Johnson received a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from PCOM on 11/14/2012, under the name of Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson. Dr. Johnson, what we need from you is a government issued picture I.D. in the form of a driver’s license, or United States passport stating that you are in FACT Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson. Please reveal in your submission, photo, name, date of birth, and signature. This will enable us to verify against the OFFICIAL RECORDS and PHOTO that we hold. Our records include, but are not limited to a full background investigation and department of motor vehicle records. All other information included in your submission may be blurred or concealed. OR, verification of the diploma and/or transcripts with a RAISED seal will simply suffice (See Reference 1). Dr. Johnson, a commencement program, an email from a parent with the commencement program attached, other certificates, and Dr. Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson’s published dissertation WILL NOT SUFFICE for credentialed scholars. According to PCOM and most institutions of higher learning, students may attend and participate in the graduation ceremony but must wait for official diploma release. PCOM states that the rolled diploma that students receive on stage is not their official diploma (PCOM, 2015). Furthermore, PCOM states that their doctoral students must wait for full academic approval at the board of trustees meeting before receiving an OFFICIAL graduation diploma (PCOM, 2015).

  1. Umar Rashad-Abdullah Johnson completed his dissertation October 18, 2011. PCOM awarded Umar Rashad-Abdullah Johnson a doctoral degree on November 14, 2012. PCOM has a doctoral of psychology hooding and conferral ceremony (http://www.pcom.edu/student-life/commencement/pcom-grad-program-commencement/information-for-graduates.html). At the doctoral hooding and conferral ceremony, PCOM bestows the doctoral of psychology conferral. The 2012 PCOM graduation ceremony was on June 3, 2012. Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson was awarded the doctorates of psychology on November 14, 2012, therefore, Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson could have been bestowed the doctoral psychology conferral on the following graduation ceremony of July 26, 2013 (date based on Evidence 1 below, no other date released from school to verify against, 2013 commencement information potentially pulled from PCOM). The 2013 commencement program is not available in pdf form through the PCOM digitalcommons website as all other commencement programs (see Evidence 1). The only available public documentation for the PCOM 2013 graduation class is a YouTube video showing a dry run for the graduation ceremony of the PCOM DO graduates. All males in this video appear to be of Caucasian descent (https://youtu.be/b6rGHzlUFK4). Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson may or may not be in this video. We have found Umar Johnson to be Arabian (See Evidence 1).

 EVIDENCE 1

Umar Johnson appears in a Background Investigation to be Married and Arabian

Evidence 1

Note: Information withheld in white is that only the REAL Umar Johnson will know

  1. Furthermore, as an addendum, prospective degree candidates in the PsyD program who have completed their dissertation by June 1 of that year render eligibility to participate in the graduation ceremony (PCOM, 2016 http://www.pcom.edu/about/departments/registrar/graduation.html ). Website information from PCOM and Dr. Johnson reveal that Dr. Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson would have appeared in the 2012 or 2013 commencement program. However, Dr. Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson does not appear in the 2012 commencement program from PCOM and the 2013 commencement program from PCOM is not reflecting on their digitalcommons website. (See Evidence 2). As a speculation, PCOM may have pulled the final October 18, 2013 dissertation in pdf form and the 2013 commencement program in order to protect the potential further theft of identity of the real Dr. Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson. This also may be why the published dissertation appears in Google Books (See Evidence 2 for copy of prior release), but is no longer available for purchase and has a strike-through on the title, name, and date. Johnson presented a photo of a potential 2012 commencement program that appears to be photo shopped due to gray scale of the program paper, which the gray scaled paper ended in 2011, and the listing of Jessica Avant, who completed her final dissertation October 3, 2010 (See Evidence 1), which gives Ms. Avant eligibility for the 2011 and 2012 ceremony (PCOM, 2015 & 2016). Ms. Avant does not appear in the 2011 or the 2012 commencement program listed in the PCOM digitalcommons. Furthermore, in regards to the potential photo shop from Dr. Johnson, yet according to the PCOM catalogue, the M.S. degree from PCOM is missing on Dr. Johnson’s document, although, it is shown on the 2009 program which appears that Mr. Johnson may have forgotten to add a degree to his list of many degrees which are nothing to brag about in the field of academia, yet may demonstrate a lack of direction in one’s course or field and/or financial instability in managing their work after graduation with the ample 3-4 degrees, that being an associates and/or bachelor’s, one masters and one doctorates (see Evidence 2). Based on the information presented by Dr. Johnson and evidence from PCOM, it is hereby determined that Dr. Johnson may have committed Identity Theft in reference to Dr. Umar Rashad Abdullah-Johnson, who may potentially also be Umar R. Abdullah-Johnson, and who may also be Umar Johnson, who is of Arabian or of Caucasian decent and Married.

Note: All evidence and reference will be compiled in a separate appendix for readers to expand and clearly view in a future blog.

  1. The thief doesn’t even like Arabs but he may of used an Arab man’s identity to further his own lust for admiration! Shoemake has done so much damage to the image of the African American abroad. He’s a truly disgusting man. In fact I believe this man has very low self esteem but he hides it behind the bravado.
